The M5Stack Cardputer Mesh Kit is the cheapest keyboard device in our data, and it includes GPS, a 1750 mAh battery and an SMA antenna connector. The LilyGO T-Deck Plus gives a larger touchscreen, and the T-Deck Pro trades it for an e-ink screen. The T-Lora Pager is the pager-style option, but its specs conflict between sources.
All four devices below run on ESP32-S3. That is why none of them is in the long-battery nRF52 group, and why they suit active use, such as events, hiking days or a car, better than weeks of standby. If battery life matters more than typing, read ESP32 vs nRF52 first.

Best value: M5Stack Cardputer Mesh Kit
The kit combines a Cardputer-Adv and a Cap LoRa-1262 module with GNSS. It has a 56-key keyboard, a 1.14" IPS screen, a 1750 mAh battery, an SMA connector, 22 dBm transmit power and weighs 77.2 g. Meshtastic comes preinstalled. It is listed at $48 (M5Stack store listing, Nov 5, 2026) at the M5Stack store (a search-listing price, not confirmed on the store page). It launched in April 2026.
The catch is the small screen, ESP32-S3 power draw and no IP rating. The LoRa cap alone is sold separately at $14.50, which matters if you already own a Cardputer-Adv.
Best screen and ecosystem: LilyGO T-Deck Plus
The T-Deck Plus is the T-Deck with GPS and a 2000 mAh battery added. It has a 2.8" 320x240 IPS touchscreen, a backlit physical keyboard, a trackball and an IPEX/U.FL antenna connector, per the Meshtastic docs and LilyGO. It is sold in 433, 868 and 915 MHz variants.
LilyGO lists it at $77.16 (LilyGO official store, Nov 5, 2026). The catch: pick the exact band (868 or 915 MHz) when you order, and ask for the exact band (868 or 915 MHz) when you order.
Best e-ink: LilyGO T-Deck Pro
The T-Deck Pro swaps the LCD for a 3.1" e-ink touchscreen and keeps the keyboard, with GPS confirmed on a reseller listing and a 1400 mAh battery. E-ink is easier to read in sunlight and holds an image without power. The antenna is internal with no external connector, so you cannot upgrade it. LilyGO lists hardware options (a 4G module or a voice option) and it is often sold out. LilyGO lists it at $92.35 (LilyGO official store, Nov 5, 2026).
Best pager style: LilyGO T-Lora Pager
A QWERTY keyboard with a rotary encoder, a 2.33" colour screen, GPS, NFC and an integrated foldable antenna per the Meshtastic docs. The sources conflict on its radio chip (LR1121 or SX1262) and battery (500 or 1500 mAh), so we do not make a recommendation on endurance. Check the current price on the maker page before buying.

Which one suits which use
Hiking and events. The Cardputer kit is small at 77.2 g and has an SMA connector, so you can fit a better antenna than the default. The T-Deck Plus is bigger, with a larger screen that is easier to type on, but its weight is not listed.
Sun and outdoors. An e-ink screen holds readable text in bright light and uses power only when the image changes. That is the reason to consider the T-Deck Pro, at the cost of a slow refresh.
Fixed use. For a desk or vehicle with USB power, battery life matters less and an ESP32 device is fine. If the device will also act as a repeater, a dedicated nRF52 node is a better choice; a keyboard messenger is a poor fit for that job. See roles explained.
Antenna. Only two of the four have an external antenna port: the Cardputer kit (SMA) and the T-Deck Plus (IPEX/U.FL). The T-Deck Pro and the T-Lora Pager use internal or foldable antennas, so range upgrades are limited. Read the antenna guide before assuming you can fix weak reception.
What to know before you buy
- Band. These are sold in 868 and 915 MHz versions (some also 433). Match your country: frequencies by country.
- Battery. ESP32 devices do not match nRF52 standby times. Plan to charge often.
- Keyboard devices still use the mesh. A device alone cannot reach nodes that are out of radio range; see how far it reaches.
- Beginners. A phone app plus a complete nRF52 node is simpler. See devices for beginners.
How we picked
Selection is by the keyboard flag in our device database, then ranked on listed price, battery included, GPS, screen type and antenna connector. We did not use any of them ourselves, and we do not claim typing comfort or real battery hours. The methodology explains the data.
Bottom line
Pick the Cardputer kit for the lowest price. Pick the T-Deck Plus for the largest screen. Pick the T-Deck Pro for sunlight-readable e-ink. Wait for confirmed specs before buying the T-Lora Pager.
Questions people ask
